For approximately 30 years, EPD has been a union company installing unit paver systems. Randy Hays, CEO and cofounder, personally laid one of the first pavers in the state of California at Pier 39, San Francisco. He spotted a great opportunity and proceeded to cofound EPD. Soon after the company was formed, Steve Hancock, director of Field Operations, joined the organization and the two are still working together to bring quality unit paving systems to market.

As a result of our experience, EPD is often called upon to assist with technologically challenging and innovative concepts to help bring ideas to fruition. We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of the industry and continuing to be a resource to owners, architects, and general contractors for budgetary bids, value engineering, and quality installations.

As an industry leader, EPD understands that innovation must be combined with quality craftsmanship. To that end, EPD is dedicated to the continuing education of all our employees and maintains an employee base with an average tenure of ten years. As safety is also one of the key values of the organization, we are one of the few installation contractors whose field foremen and field operations management have all been through OSHA 30-Hour Outreach training. In addition, we are proud to have a long-standing Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace policy. By creating a corporate culture with values like this, we are better able to manage quality from the beginning to the end of every project.

EPD has been able to create a financially sound and sustainable business. Through the longevity of the organization, we have developed a rich reputation with quality architects, general contractors, and suppliers.
